Prepared as a recombinant protein with Tyr-63 not sulphated. The 65 amino acid polypeptide is homogeneous as judged by 20% SDS-PAGE. Hirudin reacts rapidly with Thrombin to form a tight complex with a dissociation constant in the femtomolar range.
